Is it time for your to update your headshot? If you have not updated your headshot in the past year or ever had your headshot taken professionally, then the answer is YES!
We all know that in today’s world, we are seen almost everywhere, on our business cards, on our websites/newsletters/blogs and most importantly, on the internet via social media. Your face is seen by more people than you can even imagine via Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Snapchat, Tumbler and Instagram. You want people to see YOU now, not what you looked like 5 years ago (they may not even recognize you)
So as you check off the box beside your “to-do” list to get your updated your headshot, please follow these helpful hints to best prepare you for your shoot:
How to Choose the Photographer for YOU:
- Find someone that is willing to capture the “true” you
- Be sure the person you choose has the correct lighting/camera set up for a true professional headshot (if you are paying money to look your best, you should not expect less of the person capturing your image)
- Locate a professional photographer that will make you feel comfortable and confident
What to Wear:
- Choose something that will portray the job you do (or are trying to pursue)
- Neutral colors are always good
- Keep busy patterns to a minimum (you want the focus to be on you, not what you are wearing)
- Avoid clothing that is too baggy
- Think about the background color you want for your business cards, website, etc. so you can plan clothing accordingly
